@snowdusk_ Prorogation is the normal end of an annual session in a Parliament. The current session in Westminster has been the longest since the Rump Parliament in 1653. Proroguing it was overdue.

@dick_turpin @andyc @rpcutts Mr. Johnson has precedent from the Commonwealth in proroguing Parliament like this. Prime Minister Stephen Harper had to do this when his government was going to be toppled within six weeks of being first elected in 2008. The Governor General had to do it so everybody could cool off.

It is almost as if there is an evolving plan. @joeyh did a good thing in making ikiwiki and I love it as a hybrid blog/wiki. If I can just figure out what I screwed up in terms of configuring enclosures I might actually have graphics in posts some day.

@brandon @geniusmusing @lnxw48a1 Yeah, it isn't for the sheer joy of openness. Between the $EMPLOYER for LinuxWalt and the people at the Puzzle Palace, the computing landscape is frankly terrifying. Given reproducible computing by Debian and OpenPOWER by IBM with a supply chain that hasn't been tampered with you *might* get a computer that would be on the path to being "safe". Forget "Defective By Design" as we've got some actively user-hostile bits on the market these days.

@brandon There is a reason Lenovo is on my “Do Not Buy” list. If Dell made something using OpenPOWER I would be super-duper happy.

@craigmaloney I’m find LaTeX makes life so, so much easier with graphics heavy documents. WYSIWYG editing is nice but after all the OOM problems at work over trivial crap I like something that handles JPG/PNG-heavy work thrown at it.

Since when did this country turn into something ruled by a gang of crusading chief prosecutors? Every time I look at the news another coalition of state Attorneys General is suing the federal government to try to impose their policy preferences. Why bother having a Congress or President when we can just have these chief prosecutors sit down to negotiate national decisions?

That’s not a request. We dropped the Articles of Confederation, which gave us *that* system, because it doesn’t work.
