Hugle's best known invention is probably the process we now call Tape-automated bonding (TAB), which she developed in 1966. It is an essential technique for the high-volume production of certain kinds of circuits.

Hugle was awarded something like seventeen patents related to semiconductors and the production of integrated circuits.
Some of the techniques she pioneered are still in use today.
@ct_bergstrom I’d love to see someone really mix things up and use John Cage's 4'33"
If I ever needed walk-up music, like a professional ballplayer, this is what I’d use:
@ct_bergstrom That’s so good.
Good evening.
@thomasfuchs Is that rain off in the distance?
@richlv @weyoun6 He went after 12 and 14 year old girls, and wrote about how his genius entitled him to pursue young girls, as I understand it.
There's nothing wrong with having an interest in his scientific accomplishments; they're foundational. But don't valorize the guy and then sweep the dark stuff under the rug. Erwin Schrödinger was a great physicist, and an absolute monster.
Saying "He was also a complex and controversial person who had unconventional views" is a weak cop out.
When he was 53 he set his sights on a *12 year old*. The girl's family had to have a priest intervene.
He tutored a girl named Ithi Junger. It's not clear when their sexual relationship began. It may have been when she was as young as 14. By his own admission he impregnated her when she was 17. He lost interest after that, and terminating the pregnancy left her sterile.
For all his scientific accomplishments, Erwin Schrödinger was a sexual predator who wrote in his journal about infatuations with girls as young as 12. He groomed a 14 year old; when she was 17 he got her pregnant then abandoned her.
He argued that his genius gave him the right to pursue young girls.
@brussells a laugh!
@KanaMauna lol
“Velocity” is a terrible name for a ladder. That is the opposite of what you want. Why wouldn’t you call it the “Stability” or the “Equilibrium.” What are we doing here.

@tess_machling @alexwild Great, great shot.
@donlamb_1 Didn’t even notice! Great catch.
@danhon As far as we can tell, the best explanation of all the data together is that fundamental constants are, indeed, constant. There is also earthbound (as opposed to cosmological) evidence that the fine structure parameter is constant.
@failedLyndonLaRouchite afaik this was the first example shown to correct a genetic defect.
Diacumakos's technique involved incredibly fine glass needles that she made herself by heating glass in her Bunsen burner. These needles were thinner than a human hair!
A few years ago I posted about her on the bird site, and within *moments* @jesswade put up a wikipedia page for her.
