It is mind boggling to me how many websites make it difficult or impossible to express the idea you no longer wish to use an old credit card

The thing about Duolingo is sometimes its multiple choice structure makes me want to launch philosophical arguments about the correct answer. Like here it's clear which answer they WANT but "Do you speak Dog?" sounds like a completely reasonable question one might hear a person ask

I've even got a mnenmonic for it and I forget to apply the mnenmonic

UPDATE: So I feel like learning French is going well, slow but Duolingo seems to have a very slow process but well, but one thing I absolutely CANNOT remember is which one is chien and which one is cheval

Staring at Android logcat and a thing that is always interesting to me is when we have managed to recreate human anxiety conditions in a computer

@dragfyre @neauoire I don't know where this was taken but Galveston island in Texas is slowly moving north

It's stable by the seawall on the downtown, but the outskirts of the island are where the nice places for building beachhouses are

So the people who own the land just build the cheapest houses possible assuming they can rent them to beachgoers until they fall down / the property ceases to exist

@dragfyre @neauoire Every time there's a hurricane or tropical storm (semifrequently) the whole island jumps like 30 feet in one go and there's a whole set of houses that are suddenly on stilts in open ocean

The rules have some kind of really funny phrasing like "if your house moves onto the beach, you have 30 days to remove it before the state takes possession..."
