    The lecturer said that for a tensor of rank m over a finite dimensional vector space the number of components is 


    ${m^{dim V}}$

    So I looked at that for several hours! and could not understand it.

    Well of course I thought about it now and it's obviously ${(dim V)}^m$

    But I spent ages trying to convince myself that the incorrect thing was true.

    I was watching a lecture last night, about vector spaces and tensors. The lecture was great. I've never been very good at tensors, and struggled at that bit whilst at school.

    Anyway this lecture made it all super clear, and it was a great introduction to them. HOWEVER the lecturer makes a mistake in a small detail, whilsts discussing the number of components in a tensor with respect to a basis across the vector space.

    there is the "tramlines" city festival happening in #Sheffield this weekend. I've not got a ticket, but will try to check out some of the fringe events. 
    I've heard a rumour the Sarah Jay Hawley (ex Massive Attack) is doing an unannounced acoustic gig at my local! So will make sure I am around for that.  :-)

    For me, I quite like a bit of glitch! Listening to someone expressing themselves through a spontaneous functional iteration is joy. Hearing a pattern blow up and explode because a parameter has decided to divide by zero is a major source of algo pleasure for me.

      I recently organised an Algorave for the Kensington and Chelsea Art Weekend. The event went great but a comment the Director of the festival received was that one visitor was expecting the music to be less “glitchy” i.e. more like 4/4 techno.
