"The privileged classes have always held onto their advantages, always opposed every attempt to weaken their power over the masses. Even today they fight ruthlessly every effort of labour for betterment. It is therefore certain that in the future, as in the past, the plutocracy will resist if you try to deprive them of their monopolies, special rights, and privileges. That resistance will bring about a bitter struggle, a revolution."
@resumer @rse A lot of these politicians are snakes, and it sometimes makes me wonder: is this really the best that humanity can do? Are these the best possible leaders we could have? I think the answer to that is self-evident.
@mikegerwitz I use bash, but I don't care about Windows. Microsoft are just doing that because they don't have much choice. Their OS is becoming increasingly irrelevant. One person I know thinks they're on a ten year trajectory towards ditching Windows and just distributing a Microsoft branded GNU/Linux distro instead.
@cmhobbs @strypey I don't know much about Indymedia, but if the media isn't doing the job (see Churnalism and the book Fraudcast news) then becoming the media yourself seems like a good idea.
My Google removing patch for !gnusocial got merged! Things such as Google Maps could maybe be implemented as a separate optional plugin if folks want that.
@mmn @moonman For me bitcoin just never worked out. It became much too centralised and it's core feature of wasting electricity seemed opposite to what I was trying to achieve. I think there should be further experimentation with cryptocurrencies to overcome bitcoin's limtatons because a working bankless micro payments system has always been a missing feature of the web.
Added !gnusocial user creation and removal to #Freedombone. This makes it easy to add or remove users via the control panel, without having to manually register them on each service running on the box.
Updated the !gnusocial debian package to the current commit, since it looks like are some important recent changes. https://git.gnu.io/bashrc/gnusocial-debian
