I believe most people would consider sexual interest with 12-year olds as pedophilia. Typically, a 12-year old girl of that time would be pre-puberty and therefore be considered a child. (A 14-year may be post-puberty and that infatuation would technically not be considered pedophilia, but still objectionable even by the standards of the time.)
