@natecull I've been joking about a Glorious Revolution 2.0. Just ask the Dutch King to invade again and take over the country. Worked well in 1688! I'd love to be able to visit my friends in the UK again without border hassle :)

Timo Kramer (timo_micro@scicomm.xyz)'s status on Thursday, 07-Jul-2022 16:32:27 UTC Timo Kramer @natecull There have been more than 50 resignations over the last 48 hours, including the chair and vice chairs of the party, so it's a bit of a wild-west atm. There will be an election for a new leader of the party (first people have already announced their intention to stand in said election), which is organised by a committee (the 22) that is due to be re-elected itself on Monday. There's rumours of Johnson being replaced by a temp, but no clue how that will go.

Most recently 3 years ago with the previous conservative PM. The scandal itself wasn't the trigger, it's the resignation of two senior ministers. Johnson has been kept in power for months by the grace of his loyal supporters. Any hint of that support wavering was enough to lead to his downfall. Why they resigned now? Perhaps they deemed it advantageous?
