@inference@dazinism@samgai Lack of future software updates is one reason I'm looking into linux phones, I don't wanna be stuck on an old version of android anymore.
@inference@dazinism@samgai I will look into those articles you sent, but for now I'm not being too critical of linux because they're not ready to be used on mobiles.
> Switching from Android to Linux doesn't change the fact that firmware can't be supported on outdated hardware.
Does this only apply for mobiles ? Because I know linux runs fine on old PCs......
@SylvieLorxu@fdroidorg Can you tell me more about this Android backup framework ? I didn't know about it. So does this mean google will backup all of my apps data unless the app explicitly opts out of it ?!
@feditips For those who don't know, a fediverse client on android called #Fedilab (@apps) already supports translations as a built-in client side feature. And they even use their on self-hosted FOSS translation service at https://translate.fedilab.app
It all ties back to my initial point about advertisement, I wish more people knew about projects like yours instead of these useless brand names and such. How can it be OK for us to show ads about commercial companies when there are lots of good projects out there that need our attention for good. @tblock
@duncan_lithgow@catswhocode I'm kinda inspired by https://directory.trade-free.org, there are so many good projects out there, online & offline. But I get your point, in a sane world these projects would be more organized. I believe FOSS could play a big role here, since we now use the internet for global collaboration.
@tio Oh wow, I wasn't expecting this much racism...... Also its kinda scary how much power medias have over us, we need less biased medias like this to know the truth. Definitely a good read, thanks for sharing.
