@clacke@jessica "do you want to listen to the left side of this 1960s hard-panned stereo recording where the drums are, or the right side, where the piano is?"
@jessica fun fact: while mono FM is encoded by having the frequency of the carrier track the amplitude of the audio signal, the stereo part of the signal is encoded as an AM side carrier.
stereo FM is basically L+R encoded in FM as the main carrier and L-R encoded in AM as the side carrier. since AM is more sensitive to noise, it's more prone to dropping out. the receiver drops it if it's too weak/noisy.
HFCS isn't actually used much in Europe, in case anyone was wondering. nobody subsidises maize here, so it's not particularly cheap compared to cane or beet sugar.
@notclacke@clacke the actual post body probably just contains that. i reckon the actual mechanism is in the metadata. i want to inspect the JSON from the browser but gotta figure out how.
@clacke anything that's based on the current main branch of Mastodon, including Glitchsoc, understands edits right now. there's support for editing too but it's been commented out of the JS until more instances understand edits. i've got it uncommented over here though.
you're probably not going to get your account on berserker.town suspended because you got into a fight with someone.
the sort of thing that would get you suspended, i think, is if you keep going after people all the time, or otherwise don't seem quite right in the head.
