Thorwegian ❄️ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Thursday, 17-Mar-2022 22:48:19 UTC Thorwegian ❄️ i want to make myself save money in a way that i can't reverse until a certain date.
can't do that with a bank account.
but i just realised i potentially could with an Ethereum smart contract.

Thorwegian ❄️ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Thursday, 17-Mar-2022 22:48:18 UTC Thorwegian ❄️ @Hyolobrika medical care of that nature is free here. if i run out of money for food, i can *always* get it.
i once, during my alcoholic phase, managed to drink up my money, and welfare stepped in with an emergency debit card for food money.
you're never fully fucked over in Norway.

Thorwegian ❄️ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Thursday, 17-Mar-2022 22:48:18 UTC Thorwegian ❄️ so this is cool. a smart contract can hold a balance that only it can access once deployed.
so i could make one that accepts, say, USDT, and holds onto it until a certain date. a time-release escrow service. that would be handy for saving money.

"well, on the one hand..."
"no, what do YOU think?"
"well, sometimes..."
"no, what view have you committed to?"
"none."
"so you don't have an opinion, then?"
"i am observing the system and remarking on the dynamics of it. i have opinions but they're more about how the overall system should be assembled than the agents in it. they are just products of the system."

"yeah, i was trying it on."

Thorwegian ❄️ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Tuesday, 15-Mar-2022 07:55:18 UTC Thorwegian ❄️ blocking the spammy providers of Gmail and Outlook will likely not encourage people to switch to smaller, independent providers. it'll just encourage them to not use fedi, unfortunately.

when i'm not: Norway, Sweden and Denmark (ranked by god knows what but this is the ordering we use in Norway; notice how our country comes first)

Thorwegian ❄️ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Monday, 14-Mar-2022 10:49:37 UTC Thorwegian ❄️ @KayFaraday it says it's on the fediverse, so the first thing i wanted to know is if i could simply paste URLs from there into the search bar and have it work

Thorwegian ❄️ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Monday, 14-Mar-2022 10:49:34 UTC Thorwegian ❄️ @KayFaraday link aggregators are kind of topic-focused by their nature, it's like only having groups, whereas regular fedi hasn't implemented groups yet...
