i want to make myself save money in a way that i can't reverse until a certain date.

can't do that with a bank account.

but i just realised i potentially could with an Ethereum smart contract.

i once, during my alcoholic phase, managed to drink up my money, and welfare stepped in with an emergency debit card for food money.

so this is cool. a smart contract can hold a balance that only it can access once deployed.

so i could make one that accepts, say, USDT, and holds onto it until a certain date. a time-release escrow service. that would be handy for saving money.

@Hyolobrika then you shouldn't have set it aside. it's a rather merciless form of saving, for people like me, who are shit at saving. i always "need" the money sooner but if i simply don't have it, i find some way of managing.

@icedquinn oh, haven't been paying attention to my other posts. you're missing some context: it's about whether or not i should block those providers for the purposes of account registrations on here.

so, the vast majority of the respondents to my poll seem to have other email providers than Google or Outlook, but for 1 in 6 people, that's the only thing they use. it's a better state of affairs than expected.

blocking the spammy providers of Gmail and Outlook will likely not encourage people to switch to smaller, independent providers. it'll just encourage them to not use fedi, unfortunately.

while i don't agree with the quote 100%, there is some truth to the idea that you vote differently as you age. and to the general idea that you vote according to which life stage or life situation you're in. i know my own vote has been all over the place depending on my situation. i don't vote these days though.
