Another #sudo hole; #Debian stable & #Ubuntu LTS not affected.
Watch your distro's repos for updates soon.

Is it me, or is #Ubuntu updating the kernel about three times per week? It feels like #WinXP before SP2 and the adoption of Patch Tuesday.
Today: Update and reboot.
Two days later: Update and reboot.
Two or three days after that: Update and reboot. -

Angry Sheep Blog > Rants > #Canonical, #Ubuntu, #Kubuntu https://nu.federati.net/url/279209 [rejzor wordpress com]
Applies equally to #Xubuntu, #Lubuntu, etc.
Yes, I can see this being annoying. #Fedora hides the non-Gnome versions, so that most people get GNOME. Since I've hated the look and feel of GNOME ever since I first encountered it, I always look for KDE or other alternative desktops. -

Running updates.
On the #Debian servers, no upgrades.
On the #Ubuntu server, Linux kernel, headers, libc upgrades
On the #Kubuntu / #Xubuntu desktop, Linux kernel, headers, libc upgrades -

Prepping a flash drive and a DVD of #CentOS 8.2 to send to #sonTwo. I should probably also send #Debian or #Devuan or #Ubuntu, but if he gets the first server running, that's fine for now. -

Annoying that #Ubuntu family operating systems still do not give a “use UTC” option during installation for the system timezone. Even my #Win10 laptop uses UTC.
Too many family members are in timezones other than US-Pacific. Using a local timezone is just confusing, just as using AM and PM instead of 24-hour time is. -

Most #Ubuntu family OS should have 20.04.1 LTS available as of 2020-08-06. However, I checked a couple of hours ago and my 18.04 systems don’t see the update yet.

#ovirt doesn't think my VM has an IP address, but...
I am able to do #ubuntu updates. I should have grabbed to ip address before starting updates, but I guess I had updates on my mind due to the grub vulnerability -

wow, it has been a long time since I have installed #Ubuntu server from iso I guess. It's way different than I remember. -

#Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa) point release coming up. Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS expected on 2020-08-06.
Important if you're currently running 18.04 on your server. It will become upgradable on or after that release date. -

I really do wish people would refer to #Debian and #Ubuntu and #Devuan (and their derivatives) releases by their version numbers instead of their nicks. If necessary, put the nick in a parenthetical. I can figure out that version 10 is newer than version 9, and that 20.04 is newer than 18.04, but what the heck does a "Ravenous Rabbit" nick tell me? -

I thought you were replying to https://nu.federati.net/notice/3303931 ... my son is doing tutorials based on some variety of #Ubuntu. My co-worker #S is trying to help someone decide whether to allow the doctor to videochat (via a system called "Zoom") instead of a face to face visit.
It seems odd that they could use #Zoom unless they are HIPPA certified. With all the security flaws they seem to be having, and privacy flaws as well, I cannot imagine that Zoom is #HIPPA certified. -

It's pretty demoralizing to never get any responses from anyone but @lnxw48a1, but I am nothing if not persistent.
I realize I could interact more and gain more followers and I could post more. Maybe I'll give Mastodon a shot a see if I get more interaction there. I don't think I've joined an instance but maybe I have.
Anyway...

I wish the #ubuntu #apache install was smart enough to know if you don't have any other sites, to just make your new site the default. In any case, good to learn that about apache and now I have an !icinga server (I know Icinga is mentioned in the name of the !nagios group, but not sure if it's an alias)
I wouldn't call the server functional at this point, but it pops up with a splash page, which is a start -
