I remember reading about Chino Prison's outbreak ... and moving supposedly well inmates to other prisons to escape the #SARS-CoV-2 #coronavirus infection.
Experimental prostate cancer drug being studied for antiviral effects against #coronavirus ( including the #SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes #COVID-19 ), influenza A, other viruses.
Around Half of Unvacinated Americans Indicate They Will "Definitely" Get #COVID-19 Vaccine. 95% of Those Already Vaccinated Got or Intend to Get All Required Doses
"About 8% of American adults reported they had received a COVID-19 vaccination and around half of adults who haven’t (51%) indicated they would definitely get a vaccine, while an additional 26% said they probably would, according to U.S. Census Bureau data released today."
@geniusmusing That's another negative sign. Each time the #SARS-CoV-2 virus crosses a species barrier, it faces different evolutionary pressures. That may be why it and the SARS ( #SARS-CoV-1 ) #coronavirus split to begin with.
This despite figures showing that children are effective vectors for the #SARS-CoV-2 #coronavirus that causes #COVID-19. I read that 85% of #2019-nCoV infections were passed from someone younger than twenty.
The little germ factories will bring it home to their families.
The problem with that is that it will be late next year before the 2020 numbers are finished. So what they're going by are estimates, often not even official ones, that will change as data comes in from all over the nation.
No, the #SARS-CoV-2 #coronavirus is real, and the disease it causes ( #COVID-19 or #2019-nCoV ) is real. There are some current restrictions that have not been shown to work, but some things do work:
* physical distancing -- 2 meters or 6 feet appears to be far enough apart that most larger virus-laden droplets fall to the ground * face masks -- They reduce the amount of virus an infected person releases, but they also reduce the amount that one ingests. It does not have to be perfect. (Which was an issue early on, because official advice was to not wear masks. But by March, evidence was already coming in that masks help slow the spread.) * hand-washing -- For years, we've heard that a common vector for colds and influenza is hands touching surfaces with viruses on them, then touching one's eyes or nose.
There are some others, but these three are well documented by now.
B.1.1.7 strain surges, triggering new lockdowns shortly after political leaders said they would not be needed. https://nu.federati.net/url/279095 [www irishtimes com]
7 months later, we still have people arguing. Wear your mask and keep your distance, so we get some common-sense policies to limit #SARS-CoV-2 #coronavirus infections instead of one-size-fits-all lockdowns.
