I'm starting to wonder what the #Hotel's ISP is doing to guests' traffic. My #VPN keeps disconnecting for several minutes at a time. Fortunately, Mullvad's client software blocks everything until the VPN successfully re-connects. (I've always just used my system's #OpenVPN software with previous VPN providers, but I could never get it to do this.)

Thinking about https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GBXMBQF and I realize why I no longer take a travel router with me when I go somewhere: There aren't many places that give you an Ethernet port any more. They're all Wi-Fi.
A good idea would be a Wi-Fi intermediary that you connect to the #hotel_wi-fi and it presents as a single device ... but you can connect multiple devices behind it. And yes, building in #Tor, #I2P, #OpenVPN, #WireGuard, #IPSec endpoints that could be used to prevent the hotel's network and its users from spying on your traffic would be great.
I think I'll go back to carrying a Wi-Fi hotspot when I travel. (I do occasionally use my phone as a hotspot, but battery life is not good when the hotspot is running.)

I don't normally use the service's own client. I generally use #OpenVPN with whatever GUI front-end is provided with the OS repositories, but in this case, I'm using #Wireguard and found no front-end. (I've done the "write a script to launch the VPN" thing before, but I dislike when the #VPN disconnects, but the Internet connection still works. That could leave you unprotected for some time until you notice the change.)

If we have another round of discussion, I can bring it up, but honestly, I highly doubt corporate to go along with free support in the current business client unless it is a trial. We regularly add new applications, so it would be pretty easy.
Supposedly, there is an #openvpn blog coming out directly related to the #covid19 stuff. Would have thought it was out already, but it isn't: https://www.openlogic.com/blog
The best thing to do is for a company to request support: https://www.openlogic.com/solutions/support

marginally relevant to this thread, but we decided in standup today to figure out if there was anything we could do. We've got an #OpenVPN article coming out to help companies struggling with remote work, but it is hard to image the business case for doing something with Folding@Home or BOINC.
I guess I get to play biologist in the meeting. I quite the microbiology lab in 2006, lol.

@thestevebiggs getting no output at all from ping → name resolution may not work. Can you ping 8.8.8.8? And traceroute -n 8.8.8.8? #OpenVPN

Heh, I run #MariaDB via an #OpenVPN tunnle anyway. Could never be bothered to setup certificates for it.

Main mail and web server were down due to my #OpenVPN certificates to my all-in-all database server had expired. All generated at the same time, so I had to update all certificates (but this time with more than 700 days expiration time...)
