I don’t know whether this is because of the Omicron variant of #COVID-19, but the walk-in medical clinic has had lines waiting outside for the past few days. Most days, it looks to be twelve to twenty people. There are also some sidewalk testing places. The closest one had about fifteen people waiting in line at noon. The one across the street had about five people waiting at 16:00. There were also two testing vans that used to park nearby, but I haven’t seen either in a few weeks.
TL;DR: Not data, but observation says that a lot of people are lined up waiting to take COVID-19 tests. That could indicate that the new variant is spreading quickly in #NYC. #2019-nCoV

The new #hotel room is a lot smaller than the previous one. And no drawers, so either my clothes must remain in the suitcases be hung up.
This isn’t the worst hotel or room I’ve had since I got to #NYC, so I’m not complaining. Well, except for the abominably slow #hotel_Wi-Fi #Internet service. It is almost as though they have a dial-up modem connecting the network to the wider network of networks called the Internet.

This area has some things I have not seen elsewhere, but lacks things that I've seen almost everywhere else I've been. I put that down to most living spaces being fairly distant (by urban standards) from the business and entertainment areas of #NYC.

@geniusmusing There was one next to my #hotel when I worked in New Hampshire ( #nh ) for a month. I had no cash, but I had plastic, and they took it. I ate there twice a day for the first three weeks. Maybe I was just hungry, but #Five_Guys seemed really good.
The #nyc franchisee could just not run them well, but this is quite a different experience.

Something about #NYC causes mobile devices to discharge more rapidly. I suspect much of it is related to #cellular and #Wi-Fi network coverage between tall buildings. But I noticed a milder version outside New York City, where I've been working the past few days.

Signs said there is some event in #NYC tomorrow, and to expect worse congestion and slowing.

Traffic tonight was crazy. The last 12 miles or so took almost an hour. #NYC is too crowded.
-
Drove to another office, about 30 miles away. I was not looking forward to driving in #NYC, but once I got on the highway, 30 miles took about an hour. I will be covering another tech person's tasks here for a few days.

#Pizza tonight. The #NYC style. Thin crust. Wide, flat slices.

Something about #NYC:
Every mobile device I have goes through batteries’ charge at a greatly accelerated pace.

Seasons are starting to change. It isn't cold yet (especially by #NYC standards), but it is cool.

The last couple of days have been filled with the sirens of emergency vehicles. In this part of #NYC, the gridlock is bad enough that you may not make it if you have a medical emergency.
As a pedestrian, stopping at intersections and so on, it took an ambulance three blocks to catch up and pass me. There were just too many other vehicles and nowhere for them to go, so the ambulance was stuck in traffic.
I also saw two ambulances heading different directions on a narrow road. One had to pull over so the other could pass.

Meanwhile, #sonOne is trying to plan a visit here in #NYC. He wants to time it to match my one day off, so we can see the sights of the city. I guess I'd better ride the subway a few times, so I can get to wherever the tour would start.

The weather in #NYC has started to cool a little. I wonder how cool it will get before people from the warmer states start finding reasons to go home.

@guizzy @moon@shitposter.club I'm already here in #NYC. Possibly leaving soon, though.

Spent a few hours walking around #NYC. Got lost a few times. Got over tired, wandered in front of a couple of cars. Bought a chili cheese dog from a street vendor and sat right there on the street corner to eat.
It really is true that just a block or two away from where you were, you may find it difficult to find your way back.

Salt-free chips. Could not find these in California, but they're here in #NYC. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/282993

A co-worker was driving us from one office to another. All of a sudden, we passed the #FDNY memorial near the #New_York World Trade Center. We also saw an underground shopping mall (with a weird "hair clamp" looking roof above ground) while looking for food.
#NYC is 302 square miles with something like 8 million people in it.
