Hmmm. Does this sound “ethically challenged” to you?
In 2018, I bought computer parts so that #lazyNephew in #SoCal could build two computers. In 2019, he sold one of them to his brother #Papaya in #TX. When it arrived, Papaya said it did not work, but his older brother had already spent the money.

My sister’s granddaughter ( #lazyNephew’s daughter ) is bored 😐 ... I don’t know what he’s doing, but he’s trying to get her to watch TV so he can do his thing. She jumps up, yelling “Uncle Walt!” and runs down the hallway to greet me every time she hears me walking past.
That’s not just today. That’s almost every day.

#lazyNephew is struggling with the Elgato HD60 Pro driver conflict versus #Win10 v.1809
I’m not helping him with it. I figure he can use a search engine just like I would.

My #lazyNephew turned a question I asked her oldest son into a dig, so I had to pull the kid aside and make sure he knew I did not intend for that question to have an uncomfortable follow up.

Got a message from #lazyNephew, complaining about the temperature in his room. Knowing that there is typically a cool breeze blowing from around 19:00 to 22:00 or 23:00, I told him to open both windows in his room and use a fan to push hot air out one window. Also to turn off everything he’s not actively using at the moment.
It surprised me that a twenty-seven year old would not do these things already. In my room, those two things make it cool enough to sleep most nights (unlike the previous house, which was built in 1972, during the “unlimited energy” years).

@kaikatsu Congratulations. You came up with an excuse that #lazyNephew never thought of.

#lazyNephew is starting to apply for jobs. The "guaranteed" job he said he'd have if he could just hold out until 2019-June (a year after he lost his old job) fell through.

Lunch with one of my brothers and his wife. We talked about all the recent good and bad of the family. I found out that one of my sisters told another sister (mother of #lazyNephew) that her twenty-seven year old son needs to get a job. Naturally, this angered the mother of lazyNephew, so they aren’t speaking right now.

@amic You should hear #lazyNephew complaining. CPUs, RAM, drives, the fiber connection speed (50Mbps each direction), his monitors, his webcam, his capture card, his keyboard. None of which he paid for.
-
@rye Let me introduce you to #lazyNephew. Purest friendship of all.

#lazyNephew’s younger brother #Papaya moved to #TX months ago. His cat is here. The cat is a little clingy, but the last 3-4 days, he has pretty much stayed in one spot in the hallway. I don’t know if he just misses his human or if he’s not feeling well in some other way.
Why don’t cats speak English, so I could ask him directly what is going on?

I awoke yesterday to find that #lazyNephew had reset the router because he was trying to give someone access to something on his computer. Of course, he didn’t tell me this at first. It was because “everything was slow”.
Later, I put some of the scraps of conversation together and realized what he had tried to do. When I got into the router, sure enough, he had tried to set up port forwarding without knowing how to do it.
My view has always been that I want to keep others out of the local network, not invite them into it.

Trying not to laugh: #lazyNephew’s three year old daughter is singing and yelling as loudly as she can as part of her “I’m not taking a nap”. They have a daily struggle over naptime. Sometimes, she tires herself out so much that she cannot stay awake any longer. Other days, she succeeds in avoiding sleep, but then she’s grouchy and tired until bedtime.
-
Sounds like #lazyNephew and his three year old daughter are having "quality time" today.
-
“Daddy, I have to pee.”
Every time #lazyNephew’s daughter comes back from her mother’s place, they have to retrain her to use the potty instead of diapers. This is a sign that she is adapting faster this time.

Ah, we're going to walk down to #Target in a little while. Forgotten ingredients.
We = #lazyNephew and myself, but he doesn't know about it yet.
-
Sleepy three year olds are a trip.
#lazyNephew: Are you finished with your lunch?
Daughter: I’m done. I don’t want it.
lazyNephew: Good. #Naptime.
Daughter: Daddy, I’m hungry.
I’m starting to understand her dialect of Martian a little better.

This past week, my sister was off work for a training course, so she had a lot more time at home. #lazyNephew spent a few hours assisting with the yard work. There's still a pretty large patch of weeds behind the back fence that needs to be removed, but extra bodies helped gain much progress.
-
My sister’s granddaughter had a really good day. They went outside and played and they did yard work together. #lazyNephew tends to try to use electronic devices as babysitters, so that he can do what he wants to do. Then he’s unhappy when she gets into things and interrupts his flow.
-
Going to surprise #lazyNephew with “come on outside, we’ve got some yardwork to do today”. We’re trying to remove weeds before they (1) finish setting seeds; and (2) dry out and become a fire danger.
Since @bthall has experience with some of these same weeds, you’re invited to come on down and help out. I’ll even spring for lunch at a nearby Mexican-style place.
