A Dutch supermarket chain introduced slow checkouts for lonely, chatty customers.
Back when there was still a #Kmart here, they had a single checkout lane with both chatty customer and chatty employees. I stopped going entirely, because even if they had my desired product, it wasn't worth the wait. Maybe they needed a slow lane and a fast lane.
Several years ago (late 1990s or very early 2000s), I saw a young man take off running out of a #Kmart store with 2 employees in hot pursuit. I suspect all three ran track in high school, because they were moving really quickly. The employees returned with the thief and the merchandise in a few minutes. . @amic's "stealing from Walmart" post reminded me.
