Unfortunately, the doctor didn’t do any tests because he said the primary cause was over and done with. (I had asked whether the doctor had tested for any of the diseases that are filling emergency rooms right now: #COVID-19 / #2019-nCoV, RSV, #influenza / #flu )
@geniusmusing I was just telling someone recently that the vaccines needed to be combined specifically because it is already too much hassle to juggle #coronavirus boosters and annual #influenza shots. My understanding is that the current flu vax sometimes doesn't protect much. It depends whether they pick the right strains. Unless they figure out how to cover a larger variety of strains.
@geniusmusing This is almost certainly an attempt to manipulate and censor the data.
I'd guess the order also applies to "P&I" data in general, so #pneumonia and #influenza, severe #colds which lead to hospitalization or death, and #COVID-19.
"We don’t know how horrible the economic damage will be but we know it will be huge. And we are still nowhere near the total flu deaths we see each year."
Dude, US deaths from #COVID-19 (26,033) versus US deaths from #influenza (24K-62K). With far fewer infections, #coronavirus has already caught up.
Questions about the potential for various animal-crossover viruses to inflict deadly epidemics on humans. Lists #MERS-CoV as an example of how dangerous the #coronavirus family can be.
@moonman @dielan At last report, #2019-nCoV #coronavirus still had a 2% fatality rate and has already infected more people than its relative #SARS did over a period of almost two years. If it gets loose here and tag-teams with #influenza, it could kill thousands. Or more. . I think it is justified to take it seriously. Not to the point that you poop in your pants and sit in the streets wailing, but preparations like stocking up on food, gloves, face masks for family and neighbors make sense.
