@musicman Yeah, once #hydroxychloroquine got politicized, everyone's brains fell out. A few (since refuted) studies said it was too dangerous to even study, others said it has a mild positive effect on outcomes or no effect on outcomes, and everyone rushes to acclaim or condemn it right away.
Get the politics out of the way and let the medical scientists do their job. It will take a while, but they will find multiple treatments which can be effective against #COVID-19.
This one appears to be favorable toward using the malaria drug as a treatment for #COVID-19 ... suggests the drug should be given early in the treatment program.
Remember, this is a drug that is known to have dangerous side-effects. Some studies seem find positive results, but some seem to find negative results. Do not self-medicate.
This one put me through no less than four redirects through Elsevier (I know I spelled it wrong; the monopolist that controls scientific journal publishing).
This study is one of several I've come across recently suggesting that the malaria drug #hydroxychloroquine may indeed be a useful treatment for #COVID-19. I usually read the abstracts, not the full documents.
#Hydroxychloroquine studies withdrawn / retracted after data source fails verification. One of them was the study that said there were higher death rates among #COVID-19 patients treated with this anti-malaria drug.
WHO to Resume Trials of #Hydroxychloroquine, decides there is no reason not to continue with the trial after "important questions" raised over article claiming increased mortality.
