They're still going, but it is time for #coin-laundry and shipping #GS3's new books.
-
Found The Ear Book, The Nose Book, and The Foot Book at #Target. Now I have to find time to go to the post office and mail them to #GS3.

#GS3 went back into the snow today. This time, he picked some up, squeezed it and dropped it, then said “cool”.
It isn’t as deep today, and even though it is still cold, it isn’t as cold as it was yesterday.
I told #sonTwo to get a stick and break the icicles that are hanging from the roof, so no one is injured by a piece of falling ice. Though I imagine the roof also has ice on it that could slide off.

Also, #GS3’s birthday gift arrived today. It’s a “cat keyboard”:{https://www.target.com/p/b-toys-interactive-cat-piano-meowsic/-/A-12026417}, and I am expecting that he’s going to love it ... and that his parents won’t.

Received a pic of #GS3 from last year, experiencing snow for the first time (frowning and unhappy) and another photo from this year’s first time going out into the snow. It seems like he _really_ dislikes snow.
But it could be the amount of bundling up required, or in today’s case, the extreme cold temperature outside.

#GS3 learned a new word today: umbrella ☔️.
-
Told #sonTwo to monitor temperature in #GS3's room and to bring him into their room if it gets too cool in there.
Wind chills expected to reach -5°F to -20°F across #KS, #MO, #IL, lower in #NE and #IA.

#sonTwo and #GS3 called to #videochat. The child told me about animals in his book, but the only words I understood were "animals", "cat", "cow", and "dog dog".
Also, Tampa Bay 20, Kansas City 6 at halftime.

Phone call with #sonTwo.
Entire family has been sick for a few days. He and #GS3 have gotten over it, but my daughter-in-law still has lingering symptoms.
The younger dog is too active and to chew-oriented, so he's going to take her to the in-laws' home. If she calms down when she's older (and the boys are old enough to exercise some authority over her), maybe she can return.
GS3 has discovered Curious George. During their sick time, he watched episode after episode of the show.
GS3 was given a coloring book, but no one knew it also had stickers. He's now put several stickers on the inside of the front door.
I sent him a little hoodie. sonTwo tells me he will let him wear it around the house when temperatures are cool, but not going into a public place.

#GS3 has been calling everyone Dadda for a while. In our most recent videochat, he alternated between that, Papa, and G'anpa.
Those were the only words I understood. The rest of his speech was in Martian.

Good morning. It is 2021-01-09 16:50 UTC (08:50 PST). I’ve finished today’s #YoCo ( #yogurt and #coffee ) and have planned a day of relaxation.
I’m probably anticipating too strongly, but today’s schedule includes:
* phone call with #Daddy_A and #Little_Boy_A and possibly playing a game together
* videochat with brother and his wife + other family members
* #videochat with #sonTwo and #GS3
* phone call with #faveNephew
* drawing something to send to #GD1 and #GD2 ... the younger granddaughter hasn’t been sending me any of her animations recently.
-
His cousin #GD2 was also really into her scribbles. She eventually got into a special art-focused program at school, and is now doing animations.
I don’t claim that #GS3 is going to follow the same path, but he’s more art-focused than any of the other grandkids (besides GD2) were at that age.

#GS3 drew me a picture a while back. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/279208

I think they had hoped to get a larger vehicle before #GS3’s brother comes, but it doesn’t look like that will happen.
In other news, #Daddy_A reports that their vehicle is also having trouble. The mechanic said the code indicated the pollution control system, but has not yet been able to fix it. I think they also want to replace the vehicle soon.

They're talking about game consoles vs computer games.
I'm in favor of game consoles, simply because I can't play a game without feeling guilt ("I should be working") on a regular computer. Not that I play games very much these days.
I use my Nintendo #Switch so rarely, that I think it is time to send it to #sonTwo to save it for #GS3. I just don't enjoy playing anything on it for more than about ten minutes.
-
No report for today yet on #GS3's first cold of this Winter. Mr "I can run around in circles for 45 minutes if the dog doesn't join in" has been sort of wiped out the past couple of days.
-
#GS3 is sick, so he’s bundled up and watching Thomas the Tank Engine.
When GS3’s cousin was this same age, Grandpa used to watch hours of Thomas with his him.
-
Looking at the planets each evening reminds me of when my mom had a telescope and used to take #sonTwo and my niece LG out in the back yard for celestial observation evenings once or twice per month.
I’m looking forward to living close enough to #GS3 and his soon-coming baby brother so that I can do something similar with them. And I’m open to picking up #GD1 and #GD2 (three hours in each direction) for an occasional weekend in which “telescope night” would be a regular fixture.

Today's #videochat happened just before #GS3's #naptime, so I got to see him try to stick the broom into the heater. He talked to me and then showed me his new toy. (I didn't understand a bit of it, so I don't know if it was English or Martian.)
Great day. We had a few connection issues at the beginning of the call, but #Wire is still the most reliable tool we've used.

I asked #sonTwo, my 33 year old, about his birthday (work and sleep schedule prevented it until now). The answer I got was a picture of #GS3 wearing a festive hat and reaching up for a slice of cake. I guess that means it was good.
