I don't know whether that is specific to that instance (or even the chosen theme ... I need to try another), but as my landlord's son used to say (when I was in high school): eess bloka (it's broken).
@fu From #GNU_social, I only see a few of your posts in the thread. As you may know, #Diaspora's protocol is different from #OStatus, so the D* posts do not cross over.
But there's more going on. Years ago, when I hosted a #Friendica instance, posts from ~F to OStatus appeared natively. Now they don't. For example, almost never will a mention or reply from ~F to GS appear in the recipient's replies stream. This doesn't only happen on GS, though.
On Pleroma instances, ~F posts (at least from #libranet.de) appear with delays of 2-12 hours or more, sometimes out of context, usually out of order. They also sometimes change the scope when they reply to a scope limited post.
I have a ~Friendica account on libranet.de, but I barely ever use it because _everything_ seems to be broken and it frustrates me every time I try to use it. I should probably close it and check to see whether the issues are local to libranet.de or something common to all Friendica instances.
@clacke Maybe you should see whether #Friendica lets you turn off "direct messages" from non-mutuals. I think the wave of #spam is going to highlight how many settings default in the wrong direction.
I don't think the network is anywhere near ready to deal with organized spammers.
@clacke I didn't refollow. It could have been a periodic automatic reconfirmation, but as far as I know, those have never produced notifications before.
I do know that my now-deprecated #Libranet account could never follow this account properly. (There were multiple other irritations, some of which appear to be limitations of the #Friendica platform itself and others which may be localized on that particular server.)
Also, #Vivaldi now has its own #Mastodon instance. I think #Brave Browser had an unofficial instance at one time, and #Mozilla intends to open theirs early in 2023.
I'm still not "there" yet, but I am doing some #PHP stuff. Maybe I'll be able to help make !GNUsocial and #Friendica competitive candidates for $ORGANIZATION deploying their own #Fediverse presence.
@lxo Yes, I think that's always been a feature of #Friendica. !GNUsocial allows following PuSH/websub enabled RSS & Atom feeds ... and there's an old add-on that also supports RSScloud enabled feeds.
For example, subbing to others is generally good, but there's enough hit and miss to make it a little frustrating. Outbound post propagation is not understandable. Sometimes they show up quickly, sometimes they show up hours later, sometimes multiple posts over a period of time all show up in a delayed batch.
I added the account in Fedilab (Android app). It is even more confusing what shows up and what doesn't show up there, and posting from the app is not allowed.
Created a #Friendica account on Libranet.de ... it very quickly asked to add my contacts from here and is in the midst of attempting to do so. !fnetworks will be adding a Friendica instance once I have some funds for another #VPS.
Wow! I had forgotten about #Elgg. OpenUniverse and I had accounts on an Elgg instance in South America (time-wise, it was right after Mike's initial #Friendica instance closed, so we shifted existing conversations over) and got to see some of the posts about their #federation plans.
Note: this may have even been before changing the name from #Friendika to Friendica.
@musicman I know #django moved to LiberaChat, but #python is still debating it. #haskell is moving also. I also checked #nim, but I did not see any discussion about moving.
Neither Evan nor Alex have expressed an opinion about moving #pump.io, so I suspect it will remain on Freenode. I checked #hubzilla, but there doesnβt appear to have been any discussion about it. I left #friendica after someone set up a really noisy bridgebot, so I donβt know whether theyβre moving. I also left #mastodon
Freenode is the official IRC host for the GNU project, so a lot of GNU software is awaiting a decision from GNU.
(All hashtags above are names of Freenode IRC channels / rooms, some of which are in the process of moving to Libera.Chat or OFTC.)
The time may come for !gnusocial, #Friendica, #Mastodon, and other Fediverse software to move their #IRC channels to a different network. Hopefully, we can discuss and co-ordinate that move.
