!fnetworks There was an outage on SUR1, which currently hosts both the nu and n0 instances. The disk filled up during an overnight backup, taking down the database. I am currently investigating whether there's a misconfigured log in logrotate.
Created a #Friendica account on Libranet.de ... it very quickly asked to add my contacts from here and is in the midst of attempting to do so. !fnetworks will be adding a Friendica instance once I have some funds for another #VPS.
I have been reducing family Web presence by abandoning domains and shuttering a #VPS here and there. Now I need to reduce my work hours, so I will have some time and energy to devote to both the family’s activities ( including reviving some #fambiz operations) and to building !fnetworks. I have some ideas in both areas, but have been stymied by the feast or famine nature of my employment.
!fnetworks — If you’re using an older browser or device, the upcoming changes in the Let’s Encrypt trust chain could (but likely won’t) affect your ability to reach our sites.
What do you think about https://creators.brave.com/ ? Should I get Federati Networks set up to receive support in the form of BAT cryptotokens? It might be a way to defray part of our hosting costs.
I’m still looking for a low priced annual payment VPS provider that has a somewhat lower risk (of closure, hardware failure, etc) than most LEB hosts, so I can launch temporary testing instances (for example, the upgrade of GS to the #ActivityPub enabled 2.0 branch, and looking at how well #Zap, #Pleroma, #Friendica instances fit into the !FNetworks roadmap).
I’m also considering adding a Federati #Pump.io instance, but I need to talk with the Pump.io project about SSO options. Since they use Node.JS, I’d want it on a completely separate VPS, with some restrictions to prevent incidents. Also, if utilization is too low, that would likely close.
Currently, everything is still coming out of my pocket.
I need to make a run to the store, but I want to have an hour of #Office_Hours tonight. Maybe 19:00 to 20:00 PDT (02:00 to 03:00 UTC; 21:00 to 22:00 CDT) ... depending on when I get back and whether I get a call from a grandchild ... the grandkids always have precedence.
I think y’all know I favor the #Fossil #SCM / #DVCS over #Git (though I’m giving #Mercurial ( #Hg ) another look as well. I’m resource-constrained as well as energy-limited, but I have been thinking of standing up a miniature software forge for !FNetworks projects and users, likely using Kallithea (which can use both Hg and Git) and also having some Fossil repos (but not as part of a forge).
Still trying to track down the slowness. Watching top tells me that most of the time for a request is spend by PHP-FPM. Will be trying
“Pay special attention to the slowlog settings (request_slowlog_timeout and slowlog directives), that is, through this log and a reasonable amount of timeout, you can easily see which php calls from your application take longer than expected and start debugging them right away.” — https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/HTTPD/PHP-FPM [apache org]
