#Daddy_A told me that "Grandpa's Baby Boy" ( #A1 ) dropped his phone in the toilet. It's been a long time since he had service on it anyway.

#Daddy_A sent a picture of 11 year old #A1 playing in snow. I immediately noticed he had no gloves, so I asked. Yes, he has gloves, but he doesn’t like them so he doesn’t wear them unless it gets really bad.
I’m wondering whether that is (A) he doesn’t like gloves in general or (B) he doesn’t like those specific gloves.

I was thinking about the news that Elon Musk plans to launch #X / #Twitter peer-to-peer payments this year. If he's not willing and able to allow the company to meet regulator requirements, they will find it very difficult to get banks to allow their system to connect to the existing financial system. And that means people will have to buy some sort of in-game tokens or something.
This does not necessarily mean a #cryptocurrency token. I don't imagine he would enjoy the "visible to the world" nature of most cryptocurrency transactions. It could be something more like "Linden dollars" in Second Life or the Fortnite in-game currency (I occasionally buy a gift card for it then send the card to my grandson #A1).

#sonTwo had some work-related training today, so I did not get to #videochat with grandsons ( #GS3, #GS4, #GS5 ).
I did attempt to call with #sonOne's youngest daughter ( #GD2 ), but network issues prevented the connection.
#Daddy_A's oldest, #A1, hasn't had service for his phone in so long that he'll probably have a new number if and when they reactivate it.

Shipped (late) birthday gifts to #A2, #A3, #GS5, #GD2. They should all be enjoying their stuff by Saturday.
Also shipped non-birthday gifts to #A1, #GS3, #GS4.

Hair colors are the thing now. #GD-1 chose pink, #GD-2 chose purple, #A-1 chose blue. As far as I’m aware, #A-2 and #A-3 are leaving their hair in its natural color. As are #GS-3, #GS-4, #GS-5.
That’s ages 1-16.

Tried to call #A1 on the off chance they've paid the bill. Nope! They haven't.
-
I did try to call #A1 again this weekend, but his phone is still out of service. While I'm tempted to try to pick up his phone bill, funds are still limited, so I will just wait until things get better for #Daddy_A and #Mama_A.

It is Saturday, so I tried to call #A1.
"The mobile number you dialed cannot accept calls at this time. Goodbye."
-
I bought us all Sony #PlayStation #PS4 and #Nintendo #Switch consoles years back. (Myself, #sonOne, #sonTwo, #Daddy_A). Additionally, I bought #A1, #GD1, #GD2 each their own Nintendo #2DS handhelds (and 2nd son sonTwo and I each got a #3DS handheld).
Part of the plan was that we'd all play together and thereby increase our time spent together and our communication, but that never happened, so I stopped buying consoles.

Walked past the place where #Daddy_A and his wife lived when #A1 was born, so I sent him a picture.
-
Also tried to call #A1. His phone did not say "The mobile number you dialed cannot receive calls right now", so his service must be turned on."
-
I tried to make my weekly call to #A1, and for the third week in a row, his phone is out of service. I'd offer to take over paying for his service, but things are really tight right now.
-
I tried to call #A1 today. I discovered that his phone is off.
-
I was planning to call #A1 today, but it didn't happen.
-
Ten year old #A1 has not responded to my SMS messages since his birthday. Time to call him and see what's wrong.
-
To be clear, I did contact them first ... years ago, when I was working in Starkville, #MS, because I wanted to buy team jerseys for #GD1, #GD2, and #A1. They didn't have jerseys in A1's size, so I bought him a onesie.

#A1 is less communicative recently, like his dad. Together, their lack of response made the recent gifting process more difficult.
That's on top of the bank switch. (Note: I think I figured out part of the bank's issue--they are smaller, so many services are provided through disinterested third party contracted services that have no incentive to meet consumer expectations nor any interest in putting forth any exyra effort.)
Through it all, I have persevered, and my favorite ten year old will soon be enjoying his one-year #Crunch_Labs subscription.

When #GS3 turned 4 years old recently, he received a gift from me. I didn't actually choose it or pay for it, because I was still struggling with the bank. Anyway, it is a hook-and-loop ball and target set. The target is a felt rectangle with a depiction of various planets on it.
So on the video, he said "Grandpa sent me something about planets", and his brother #GS4 (almost 2 years old) started asking whether they were going to have a videochat with "ganpa".
Anyway, I'm going to try to order some clothing for both of them. The 4 year old is too tall for most of this clothes, but the next size up are too wide for him. This has been the case for about a year, so it isn't a change, except he's moved up another size. But now, the 2 year old has outgrown almost all his clothes height-wise, but width-wise, he can still fit clothes from a year ago.
Likewise, I couldn't get anything for their cousin #A1 around the time of his birthday, but I've picked something that I will try to order soon. I'm waiting to hear back from #Daddy_A that this is something the 10 year old will like ... and that someone will be involved with exploring it with him.

Speaking of #A1, he's gained weight. He used to be tall and thin. He doesn't look fat, but he's no longer noticeably thin, either. When I was 10, I reached 66lb / 30kg. I'd expect he's beyond that already.
