My process for making lecture videos: * SimpleScreenRecorder for grabbing desktop activity * LibreOffice for slides * Cheese for displaying webcam video (which SimpleScreenRecorder will record) * PhET Demonstrators for simulation of physical phenomena * Logitech HD webcam w/ built-in mic * Lenovo Laptop w/ Ubuntu 14.04 LTS * Xournal for tablet-style "chalk talk" writing (using either a Wacom tablet or my Lenovo X61 Tablet Laptop) * KDENLIVE for video editing * Audacity for making voiceover recordings * MediaGoblin for long-term, personal cloud storage of my resulting videos * Backup: in case the mic on the camera is not working or I forgot to select it, I keep a backup of the audio of the lecture using my Android phone and RecForge II. I put things on YouTube because people expect to find things on YouTube, but I don't trust YouTube to keep my content.
