The oil industry never complains about high prices (high prices per barrel is good for the industry and for Norway for example), but everyone else dislikes high prices (regular people).
Low prices are bad because investments in the industry stops (like what's been going on now for almost a year), and that's why so many people loose their job in the industry.
Also countries like Norway who depend on oil are hit very hard.
(Im sure you know this, but I had to say it anyways :) since it's a topic I care a lot about)

97-99% of norways energy comes from clean energy (hydro electric dams). However we rely a lot on export of oil \ gas to other countries to fill up the bank. Norway is one of the leading countries when it comes to clean energy because of our hydro electric plants.

And do not forget that oil is used and will be used for a lot of things in the future as well (just look at all the things that is made from using oil based products), same for gas. There will be a downhill, but I do not thing things will stop fully when it comes to gas\oil.

It's exciting times for new technology, and the downturn in the oil industry makes companies invest more in the future, so it's exciting times.
