@windigo I'm considering trying out Django - @lnxw48 suggested you may ave 'played around' with it. If so: what would you say: worth learning or not? and why?
-
@zoowar well, I'm not a "pythonist" but I'm thinking Django could be the reason to finally learn it. (I've done a few small scripts throug learning by example - deefinitely not enough). But I need to re-build some websites (keep the data, but a completely new UI), so a small site might be a good project to learn both. Or would that be too much / too heavy?
-
@windigo my knowledge of python is minimal so I was thinking learning Django might be a way to learn python as well.
-
@windigo ah - I like abstraction :)
-
@zoowar my goto language is PHP, but I'm getting the feeling I'm getting 'stuck' in that, and that I need to look over the garden wall.
-
@zoowar My interest comes from stumbling over GeoDjango which I found has good and well-structured documentation.
-
@zoowar sideways will be good enough ;-) I'm not planning to drop PHP (given that I work with WordPress, too). But I would like to diversify a little.

@windigo well, after more poking around I've decided I'll try it. Found a really nice tutorial to start with.But before I go down that path I need to solve my hardware problems and see how I can do a fresh install of Debian - preferably without losing all my programs (or at least after getting a complete list of programs so I can install them again). #django #python #firstthingsfirst

@xrevan86 ooh, nifty! thank you :)
