jezra (jezra@pleroma.jezra.net)'s status on Saturday, 14-Dec-2024 01:08:00 UTC jezra Despite what other jezras might tell you, there is no wrong way to pronounce the 'j' in jezra. The 'correct' way, is how it would be pronounced in your native language.
Thank you,

NYbill (nybill@mastodon.sdf.org)'s status on Saturday, 14-Dec-2024 01:32:24 UTC NYbill @jezra It is. I've heard it truncated to, mjjzf. ;)
-
jezra (jezra@pleroma.jezra.net)'s status on Saturday, 14-Dec-2024 01:32:25 UTC jezra @NYbill it is Morten, and never truncated to "Mort".
As far as I can tell, Mortimer is the only name shorted to Mort. -

Moor town: A translation of the name Morton
Dedicated to Mars: A connection to the Roman god of warThe name was first recorded in Denmark in the 14th century. It is a medieval vernacular form of the name Martin and is related to the Swedish name MÃ¥rten."
I'm just William. (Look up the Cockney translation to Bill.)

jezra (jezra@pleroma.jezra.net)'s status on Saturday, 14-Dec-2024 02:11:51 UTC jezra @NYbill William > Will/Bill I understand. Henry > Hank, maybe not some much; but like most humans, I'm lazy as fuck and appreciate a single syllable nic-name for a given name.
It blew my mind to learn that some multi-syllable names are not shorted to a single syllable. -

NYbill (nybill@mastodon.sdf.org)'s status on Saturday, 14-Dec-2024 23:29:24 UTC NYbill @jezra @theru Nice! I never tried to grow tea!
In my 20's early 30's I drank a LOT of coffee! But, started getting acid reflux when I slept. Not fun! (basically choking).
Went through my diet with the doc and it was the coffee that was doing it. (Its very acidic). Its not for me.
(Was crossing my fingers it wasn't my beers!) ;)

For what it is worth, camelia sinensis (the tea plant) can be grown indoors, or outside in some growing zones. It is a white flowering camelia... and there are 2 on my deck :D -
jezra (jezra@pleroma.jezra.net)'s status on Sunday, 15-Dec-2024 00:37:15 UTC jezra @NYbill For the past few years, for similar reasons, I've been conditioning myself to switch to tea by drinking weaker and weaker coffee.
Now I have the excellent gardening challenge of propagating camelias. /me wants to grow a years worth of tea per year. Brewing a years worth of beer is still a challenge :) -

NYbill (nybill@mastodon.sdf.org)'s status on Sunday, 15-Dec-2024 01:05:49 UTC NYbill @jezra Looks like I can by a pound of Jezra's Camellia in the future!
(I buy my current fave 16oz at a time. 4 heaping spoonfuls in ~4 cups water. A little whole milk and 2 tsp sugar. That is in my work thermos.)
This is key! The tea is ready when I wake up. :D
