   Just got an email my Starlink is ready, @jezra. Whats your opinion after using it all this time? Worth a shot? I get 40mbps down and 12 up for $70 currently.

   How is the reliability in inclement weather?

     @NYbill If I could get 40Mbps at $70/month, I absolutely would not be a Starlink customer. Hell, If I could get 20Mbps at $70, I wouldn't be a Starlink customer.
     
     Starlink will certainly provide higher speeds; but the latency will probably increase as well.
     
     As far as weather goes, Starlink is more stable during storms than other satellite internet providers, but that isn't saying much.

     @jezra Yeah, that is the way I'm leaning. I signed up way back when because of the 'new tech' cool factor. (and the fact that I really do hate that there is a soft monopoly here. We really only have 2 choices. Spectrum or Verizon.) Pick the lesser of two evils...

     I think I'll let the opportunity got to someone who is up in Adirondacks or very NY rural.

     @NYbill $500 + $100/month seems like a bad financial decision unless you absolutely need higher speeds; which it doesn't sound like you do.

     @jezra If that cell is going over the Adirondacks too (~1.5h drive north of me) they need it!

     @NYbill The way I hear it, Starlink availability is based on cells approximately 15 miles across. If SL is available to you, then you live within an active cell, and by passing, the service will be available to someone else in your cell.
