We just started watching The Neverending Story.
Me: Wow, they go in strong, starting with the theme song right away.
Son: But this song is not so special.
Me: I'll have you know, boy, that this is one of the finest pieces of music ever composed and recorded.

Oh wow! Deep Roy is the snail rider! The last time I saw this movie (25 years ago?) I had no idea who he was.
How long has this guy been in the business? He looks a bit younger here, but not remarkably younger ... and the movie is from 1984!

@Like a goth, but older I probably first noticed him in Charlie, but he sure has kept busy.

It was too slow for him, not scary enough, too much talking. Maybe try again in a few years.
Or maybe just go straight to the book once he started reading.

@JordiGH He's six. It's not so much that he's to immature to understand the themes, more like he's too accustomed to modern filmmaking, for good and bad.
80s movies are partly simply not as good at telling stories, but also partly not as cynically and masterfully engineered for the same dopamine rush.
