   Fast networks have also lead to an increased reliance on streaming services, and on client side code execution.

   On the whole, I'm against both of these things for ideological reasons, and client side code execution also comes with a whole host of security considerations.

   I love fast networks. I love streaming media. I'm a big fan of the ease of use of many web applications, but they come at a price.

     @ajroach42 Years after I had last used Windows 3.1, I discovered that I had an installation on an old zip disk.
     
     On a Windows 3.1-contemporary machine it would take on the order of a minute to start up. I tried running it on the several years newer machine, and it started up in 3 seconds. :-)
