   So, there's a machine.

   If you start it up, it will give you every book in the world every movie and TV series ever made and every music album ever recorded and every science paper ever published. It will find your lost high school friends and help you make wonderful new ones. You can watch astronauts dance in space, sit at a table with journalists and scientists.

   There's a catch, though. It will also kill small towns, destroy the middle class and elect a fascist President.

   Do you turn it on?

     @natecull Without a moment's hesitation. Class hierarchies and geographical propensities have come and gone and they will change again.
     
     Holding back this marvellous opportunity for the sake of slowing down the destruction of the current world by the next world is not worth it.
     
     Instead, think about what the value of the small town is and why so many leave it when given the choice, and then maybe it is possible to figure out how to preserve what's valuable with it.
