     @coolboymew pepsi treated dyspepsia aka indigestion. Coca cola had coca extract in it that could treat lethargy. They were patent medicines that had a bunch of bullshit claims but they could do a few real things for health.
     
     You have to imagine a world where there refined sugar was a luxury, milk chocolate didn't exist, refined flour didn't exist, doctor certification didn't exist, teas and coffees were considered "medicinal hot drinks" for ailments but were also blamed for immorality, opium and cocaine were sold on shelves to treat pain. it was a completely different world that both had far less of the mild stimulants our daily life is filled with nowadays but then hard hardcore shit you could just buy to deal with things like headaches.
