@animeirl Also it is hard to get people to understand that just because I'm a disgusting bigot on one issue doesn't mean I'm wrong on every issue.

@moonman @eris @animeirl It sounds like you are trying to use Euro English when talking about US issues. Liberalism in the USA means social liberalism at this point. That battle was lost decades ago.
Classical/neo liberalism sadly doesn't really have a proper name either, as neocons and libertarians have taken various parts of it and thrown away the rest. That's why Jon Stewart said long ago he's a whig.

@dtluna Too late.

@animeirl @eris @dtluna @clacke Go to bed and get some good sleep, I'll just keep posting at you for the next eight hours until you wake up

@animeirl @dtluna @moonman @eris There are "only" (of any notice) social democrats, conservatives and, in the middle, corporatists in the US. But nobody except Bernie calls themselves Social Democrats (or even *gasp* Democratic Socialists) because of the Red Scare.
-
@dtluna Good luck. Keep up the good fight.
-
@moonman @dtluna @eris @animeirl That's an extreme position that would make the word "socialist" meaningless. Every political movement in the 17th century and onward except various forms of anarchists and maybe final-stage communism has supported some form of state financed by taxes.

@moonman @dtluna @eris @animeirl The Political Compass is passé, time for the Political Tesseract.
Or one of those spider-web-like things?
But I like tesseracts.

Ah. There we go.

Hmm. But the Radar Chart is more useful for things where the area makes pseudo-sense, and there's a clear "worse-better" scale rather than axes without value judgement. No, scrap that idea.
-
@8zu @dtluna @moonman @eris @animeirl Hard left within the US Overton Window.
-
... *unless* one simply puts each opposing scale opposite the other. So the area pretty much is a constant, but the shape changes.

@z411 @dtluna @moonman @eris @8zu @animeirl What I'm saying is Allende was not in the US of today.
But Bernie supports using state funds for wealth transfers in order to alleviate income disparity, and this is a social democratic position. Using state funds to alleviate absolute poverty is a conservative position.
